Conversions
cl-a has obtained planning approval for the conversion of numerous barns and ecclesiastical buildings to private dwellings. Among these are several Grade II Listed and locally listed buildings.
CITY CENTRE LIVING - 20 townhouses / apartments
Planning permission obtained in September 2019 to convert the locally listed St. Peter's Methodist Church in Norwich into 20 new residential units.
The principal design objective is to conserve the landmark exterior of the church buildings. The design aims to maintain the essential character and external appearance of the buildings, and their setting, through sensitive design and high quality execution.
GARAGE conversion + EXTENSION TO FORM NEW DWELLING
The project involved the conversion of, and a significant one-and-a-half storey extension to, an existing substantial garage building, and creation of a courtyard garden, all screened by a new garage/outbuilding wing which forms the public façade. A glimpse of the house is offered through the central entrance arch. The steep pitch of this, with its painted barge boards, make reference to the gable details found in the neighbouring Victorian houses. There are similar visual connections made in the brickwork detailing.
FIELD COTTAGE ANNEXE
Conversion of a three-bay garage / cart shed to provide a residential annexe for an elderly relative with dementia.
The design incorporates ground-floor living accommodation, including a fully-accessible wet room, and carer’s accommodation at first floor.
BARn conversion to create PAIR OF COTTAGES
cl-a obtained planning permission for the change of use and conversion of a redundant agricultural barn, to create two new residential units.
FAKENHAM METHODIST CHURCH - nine dwellings
cl-a obtained planning permission for the change of use of the existing church buildings, including the locally listed Buckenham Memorial, and their conversion to create a total of nine dwellings on the site.
BARn conversion to create RESIDENTIAL ANNEXE
cl-a obtained planning permission for the change of use and conversion of a locally listed barn, to create a new residential annexe within a Conservation Area close to the town centre.
